Georgia has asked Turkey for assistance in the conflicts in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, as well as in NATO membership. The statement came from Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani, Lenta.ru reports.
During the visit of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili to Turkey, the Georgian side received strong guarantees of Turkey’s support in “all dimensions.”
“We see clear results,” Zalkaliani said. He noted that Turkey’s position on Georgia was “very clear” during the NATO summit in Brussels.
On June 1, Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Turkey “supports Georgia’s membership in NATO.”
