In addition to not touching upon the issue of recognizing the Armenian Genocide during the meeting with US President Joe Biden, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is also criticized for greeting the US President, Ermenihaber writes.
Muharrem Ince, the founder of the Turkish opposition Homeland Party and a former presidential candidate, reacted harshly to Erdogan’s statement that “thank God, this issue is not on the agenda at all.”
“In other words, it seems that we are guilty and, thank God, we have solved the case,” the politician was outraged.
Ince advised Erdogan to see a doctor. “If you say, “Thank God the April 24 events were not on the agenda,” I think it's not a matter of politics, it's a matter of medicine, see a doctor.”
The Erdogan-Biden greeting photo, which was quickly spread in the international press, where the Turkish President bows before Biden, was also criticized.
Turkish writer and journalist Murat Yetkin tried to justify the situation, explaining that “During the meeting, Biden approached Erdogan in accordance with the rules of coronavirus restrictions extended his fist to say hallo. And Erdogan did not manage to get and extended his fist sitting. The Western press uses the photo of Erdogan as 'bowing' to Biden as if they want to hurt Erdogan,” the Turkish journalist wrote indignantly.
