The trial of the captured Lebanese-Armenian Viken Euljekjian continued in the regional court of Azerbaijan. Baku accuses him of terrorist acts. Viken Euljekjian asked to make a justifying decision. The verdict will be announced on June 14. Earlier, the prosecutor of Azerbaijan demanded 20 years in prison. In early June, Azerbaijan launched trials in two criminal cases against two captives, Ludwig Mkrtchyan and Alyosha Khosrovyan. And today Baku published the names of 26 Armenian prisoners of war, introducing them as saboteurs and sending the fake cases to trial.
“We were not informed through ECHR about the criminal case against those persons. At this stage, the messages that preceded it, which were officially spread by Azerbaijan, are about the young men of the Khtsaberd group, in fact, we, as the public, are informed by the Azerbaijani press reports. All intermediate measures are currently in force. Any change connected with these persons in Azerbaijan, we are notified of, we immediately report ECHR,” says Liparit Drmeyan, Head of the Office of the Representative of Armenia to the ECHR.
