The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova commented on the failure of journalist Nobel Arustamyan to receive accreditation for the upcoming European Championship 2020 due to the blocking by the organizing committee in Azerbaijan.
“UEFA is looking for a solution that allows Russian sports commentator Nobel Arustamyan to carry out professional coverage of the European Football Championship. I believe that a solution will be found. We have been doing this all evening yesterday. And I can tell you that I have not seen such a constructive attitude of all the parties involved for a long time,” Zakharova wrote in her Telegram channel.
Zakharova said that UEFA is now doing everything possible to make the European Championship pass 100% well. According to her, special attention is paid to the media and accreditation of journalists.
Euro-2020 was supposed to take place last summer, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the tournament was postponed to 2021. The matches will take place from June 11 to July 11. Baku will host three group stage matches and one quarterfinal meeting.
To be accredited for the tournament, a journalist must receive approval from all organizing committees of the host countries of the European Championship.
