Senator Robert Menendez, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, criticized Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for harassing journalists and lawyers, as well as abroad for aggression against Armenia, Artsakh, Greece, Cyprus and Libya. He asked the US Secretary of State what the US government is doing to counter Turkey during Erdogan’s power.
Blinken replied that the discussion of the US-Turkey dispute would be the main issue on the agenda of the forthcoming meeting of the two countries’ presidents Joe Biden and Tayyip Erdogan. The Secretary of State acknowledged “in many respects, Cyprus, Syria, Libya, Turkey are not acting as required of them as a NATO ally,” he said.
Blinken assured that all issues of concern to US lawmakers will be discussed at the meeting of the presidents.
