On June 4, Arayik Harutyunyan, President of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), together with high-ranking state and military officials at Stepanakert city memorial met with the delegation headed by His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, who arrived in Artsakh on a patriarchal visit.
The head of state, His Holiness and AGBU President Perch Sedrakyan, who arrived in Artsakh with the Catholicos, laid wreaths at the city memorial. Afterwards, a requiem service was held under the leadership of Karekin II in memory of those who died for the Homeland.
They also visited the military pantheon and laid flowers at the graves of those who died for the Homeland.
During the visit, the Catholicos will also visit the Amaras and Gandzasar monasteries, and on Sunday morning will hold a Divine Liturgy at the Mother Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Stepanakert.
An official meeting with President Arayik Harutyunyan is planned.
