Moscow's restrictions on air travel from Russia to Turkey could cost the Turkish economy $ 2 billion, Turkish media reports.
According to Ferit Turgut, chairperson of the Travel Agencies Union (TÜRSAB) Mediterranean Regional Representative Board, Russian tourists will not be sure whether the flight restriction will be lifted on June 21 and that they may therefore shift their reservations.
“With the losses between April 15 and June 21, the bill of the ban exceeds $2 billion,” he said.
Due to the spread of the coronavirus in Turkey, Russia imposed restrictions on direct flights in this direction from April 15 to June 1, and on May 31 extended it until June 21.
