Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Brazil, Bishop Narek Berberyan, Chairman of the Representative Council of the Diocese, Mr. Andre Kisajekyan, met with Louise Fuchs, President of the National Justice Council of the Brazilian capital, to discuss the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, press service of the Armenian Diocese of Brazil reports.
“Before that, a few days ago, Andre Kisajekyan, preparing the necessary documents with the Prelate, left Sao Paulo, which has a large Armenian population, for the capital, Brazil, to meet with a number of members of the government team.
The meeting was held in zoom format, as the coronavirus pandemic is still present in the country! The moment was important: for the first time, many, many details about the recognition of the Armenian Genocide had to be presented in detail. Many of us know that one of the bitter consequences of the Armenian Genocide was that many, many Armenians left their paternal homes and found themselves abroad. A significant part of the Armenians planted their first sprouts in the territory of the Federal Republic of Brazil and were highly appreciated for their development and recognition. Everyone living here knows who the Armenian is, what is the guarantee of his/her work, what the Armenian has done for the development of the Brazilian state.
At the beginning of the meeting, Bishop Narek presented to Louise Fuchs the importance of recognizing the Armenian Genocide in strengthening the friendship between the Armenian and Brazilian peoples. His Holiness offered Louise Fuchs to get acquainted with the Turkish atrocities committed against the mass extermination of the Armenian people by Ottoman Turkey more than 100 years ago.
Bishop Narek also referred to the urgent issue of the Armenians captured during the recent Artsakh war, asking him to make proposals in the Congress of the Brazilian Government. His Holiness invited Louise Fuchs to visit Armenia together to get acquainted with the Armenians living in the Motherland, to get acquainted with the culture of Armenia, with the aim of strengthening the long-standing honest and caring friendship between the two peoples.
The work done by Andre Kisajekyan in the life of the Brazilian-Armenian community deserves great appreciation; he keeps under his personal attention and care various issues of vital importance to the Armenians. Andre Kisajekyan to this day, sends various aid to the Motherland and to the Mother Church. During the painful days of the Artsakh war, Andre Kisajekyan, uniting a large number of Armenians in Sao Paulo, Brazil, raised his voice in protest in front of the Turkish Embassy, as he brought great humanitarian benefits to the Armenians of Artsakh. During this meeting, he expressed his protest over the world’s indifference to such urgent issues that are happening to Armenians.
Brazilian-Armenian doctor-professor Sergio Hototyan played a big role in the implementation of this program. We are filled with divine grace that this initiative will definitely be crowned with justice, preventing such evil and crime in the lives of future peoples,” the statement reads.
