One Turkish soldier was killed and five others were wounded in clashes between Turkish forces and Kurdish militants in the Tatvan District of the eastern Turkish Bitlis Province on June 2.
It is stated that the military operations of the Turkish Armed Forces are carried out against the ‘Kurdistan Workers' Party’ (PKK) military-political organization, which is considered a terrorist organization in Turkey.
It later emerged that Lieutenant Baku Koçak, one of the Turkish soldiers hospitalized in clashes with Kurdish militants, had also died.
Following the clash, Turkish forces launched a large-scale air strike operation against Kurdish militants in Bitlis.
