Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is in France on a working visit, met with Senate President Gérard Larcher.
Larcher welcomed the visit of the delegation led by Nikol Pashinyan and congratulated him on his birthday. The President of the Senate highlighted the visit of the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia to France, which gives an opportunity to discuss once again the issues of the bilateral agenda and the steps to counter the processes unfolding around Armenia. Larcher stated that the Senate is also taking steps in this direction and highlighted the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group in the comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“We raised the issue of Armenian prisoners of war in Azerbaijan in front of the President of the European Parliament, as a result of which the European Parliament passed a resolution, which is a positive step. We are not satisfied with this, our steps will continue,” Larcher said, emphasizing that Azerbaijan’s recent offensive raises concerns about Armenia’s territorial integrity.
Nikol Pashinyan once again thanked the authors of the resolution on the need to recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh and all those who supported the adoption of the document.
“In a difficult situation, it was important. The people of Karabakh saw that they were not alone in the difficult struggle. We hope that France will continue to play a significant role in the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing process and that the Minsk Group will be more active in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” Nikol Pashinyan said, adding that he had also discussed the issue with President Macron.
The Acting Prime Minister presented the steps taken to resolve the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and referred to the developments in the South Caucasus region.
