The activities of the Children’s Health Foundation of Armenia officially start today (www.hfc.am, https://www.facebook.com/hfcarmenia/). The Chief of Staff of the Artsakh President Artak Beglaryan made a note about this on his Facebook page.
“This year we are celebrating International Children’s Day in dire circumstances, as many children have lost their fathers and relatives, thousands have been displaced from their loved settlements, and tens of thousands will continue to suffer the physical and psychological effects of war for a long time to come.
I myself saw the horrors of war, losing my father, a soldier in the previous war, and then my sight. When I was six years old I was seriously injured and lost my sight due to a mine explosion in our yard in Stepanakert, the doctors were struggling for my life for days. I have faced many deprivations since then, but I was able to learn the main lesson of life, that is, no deprivation can break a person’s will to fight, on the contrary, deprivation is an opportunity to evaluate life, to do good, to harden the will.
And throughout my whole conscious life, regardless of my abilities and status, I have been guided by that lesson and compassion for others, putting the problems of vulnerable children first. Once my life has been saved by the dedicated efforts of doctors, I am convinced that no child’s life should be interrupted due to lack of financial resources or professional skills,” Beglaryan wrote on his Facebook.
He informed that the Children’s Health Foundation of Armenia has been established, and he has been elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees by the team, which is a great honor and responsibility for him.
“For 11 years, many friends and sympathizers have gathered around Armen Martirosyan to support some 400 children with life-threatening illnesses through individual fundraisers, significantly contributing to the sacred cause of saving many of their lives. From now on, these efforts will become much more institutional and effective in terms of organizing fundraising, establishing international contacts, developing professional capacity, and increasing the effectiveness of government programs,” Beglaryan added.
Thus, the Children’s Health Foundation of Armenia will help children in Armenia and Artsakh who have childhood cancer, blood problems, kidney and liver transplantation, chronic respiratory problems, immune system disorders, and other life-threatening diseases.
