On May 27, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ara Aivazian received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Armenia Kishan Dan Devali.
During the meeting, a special reference was made to the traditional Armenian-Indian friendly relations. Ara Aivazian and Kishan Dan Devali reaffirmed the interest of both sides in further enriching the agenda of cooperation, and expanding both bilateral and multilateral platforms, which will help to more effectively face regional and international challenges.
The meeting focused on the situation created by the penetration of the Azerbaijani armed forces into the border regions of Armenia in the context of regional security and peace. Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ara Aivazian presented in detail the tense situation since May 12, which is accompanied by provocations by the Azerbaijani military units that penetrated into the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia.
Special reference was made to the incident that took place in the early morning of May 27, as a result of which six servicemen of Armenia’s Armed Forces were surrounded and captured by the servicemen of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
Aivazian highly appreciated the position of the Indian Foreign Ministry on the situation.
