Eleven Democrat and Republican senators of the US Congress have submitted a resolution, which states the growing threats to freedom of the press and freedom of speech in the world, ermenihaber reports.
The resolution calls for the immediate release of all imprisoned journalists and reaffirms freedom of the press.
Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Menendez and Senator Marco Rubin (Republican, Florida) drafted the resolution.
The resolution also states that Turkey continues to be one of the most repressive countries in terms of freedom of press, as well as the country with the most imprisoned journalists in the world.
