It should be noted that our post-war security system is now experiencing a very serious test, and this must be successfully overcome, said the Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in response to the question of independent parliamentarian Tigran Urikhanyan.
“We are convinced that CSTO and the Armenian-Russian security cooperation will successfully overcome this test,” Pashinyan said.
We will continue our consultations within the framework of CSTO with Russia, with which we, in addition to CSTO, also have bilateral security cooperation, we are in consultation with Iran, today the Foreign Minister was in Armenia, we had very serious substantive discussions, said the Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“We do everything to resolve the issue through diplomacy, but in the absence of reasonable solutions, we must think about preserving and defending our territorial integrity, sovereignty. But I want to emphasize once again that Russia and CSTO urge us as a partner to resolve the issue through political means,” Pashinyan said, emphasizing that he does not see the need for martial law at the moment. It will be introduced only in case of a sharp aggravation of the situation.
To the MP’s question whether there is a fear that Russia or CSTO will not provide the necessary support, Pashinyan stressed that it will mean that the organization or any country will announce its self-dissolution.
“I want to tell you clearly that the Russian President has stated that Russia’s position has been, and still is, that the Armenian border is a red line for Russia. Yes, it is a fact that Azerbaijan has crossed that red line, I consider it impossible for Russia not to fulfill its contractual obligations. The whole meaning and interpretation of those contractual obligations is that the attack on Armenia is an attack on Russia,” Pashinyan said.
