An absolute majority voted on the European Parliament resolution on the return of captives. Acting Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian said this during a question-and-answer session with the members of the Government at the National Assembly.
“There are key issues in the resolution, which are in line with the position of the Republic of Armenia. The escalation of the situation in recent days may give the impression that the issue of the return of prisoners (POWs) has remained in the shadows. I can assure you this issue is raised in contacts with all our international partners,” Aivazian said.
According to him, Azerbaijan’s international pressure is growing day by day, as if there is an international consensus on this issue, besides, the government has decided to address the situation through political and diplomatic means.
“I think the time will come when Azerbaijan will not be able to deny this international pressure, from humanitarian issues to its attempt to penetrate into the sovereign territories of Armenia,” he said. We will continue to pursue this issue very consistently and purposefully. Otherwise, Azerbaijan may face much more serious consequences,” said the Acting Foreign Minister.
