On May 24, relatives of those arrested in ‘Ganja Case’ in Azerbaijan protested in front of the Presidential Palace.
The demonstrators raised photos of the detainees and demanded an end to the trials by order, chanting ‘justice’ and ‘Freedom for the detainees in Ganja case’.
Relatives have claimed that those arrested in Ganja case were victims of the political games of former Ganja mayor Elmar Veliyev and are now being tortured in prisons.
The police intervened and removed the protesters. There are no detainees.
After the assassination attempt against Veliyev on July 3, 2018 in Ganja, two policemen were killed in a riot in the city of Ganja following the protests and clashes with police, leading to mass arrests.
