Canadian Foreign Minister Marc Garneau and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov discussed the developments in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) on the sidelines of the Arctic Council Ministerial Meeting in Reykjavík, Iceland.
According to an official statement released by the Canadian Government, Minister Garneau reiterated his country’s call on Armenia and Azerbaijan to ease tensions, expressing hope that the sides can engage in meaningful action, including accelerating the release of detainees and return of the remains of the deceased, the investigation and prosecution of all alleged war crimes and cooperation on demining.
