On May 19, Armenian-Russian political consultations took place in Moscow, dedicated to the cooperation in multilateral platforms. Acting Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Artak Apitonyan headed the Armenian delegation. The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin and Alexander Grushko took part in the consultations from the Russian side.
During the consultations, the issues of importance for the cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation in UN, OSCE and other international organizations were discussed in detail.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on a number of issues of regional security and stability. In this regard, Apitonyan paid special attention to humanitarian issues which appeared as a result of the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in the fall of 2020, including the release of Armenian prisoners of war and hostages.
Expressing satisfaction with the level of effective cooperation between the two countries in international structures, both sides agreed on the continuous deepening of relations on multilateral platforms.
