Estonian MP Marina Kaljurand spoke about the issue of return of Armenian captives at the European Parliament plenary session.
“Let me focus on three very urgent issues in this context. First the need to release all Armenian prisoners of war and other detainees. I urge Azerbaijan to fulfill its international obligations including the ceasefire agreement and ruling of the ECHR,” said Marina Kaljurand, noting that the number of Armenian prisoners of war is more than 200.
According to the MEP, the second important issue is that Azerbaijan must stop the spread of hatred.
“The so-called ‘military trophy park’ in Baku is the most serious example of it. It humiliates and dehumanizes Armenians, glorifies violence, and teaches wrong lesson to the Azerbaijani kids. It has to be removed,” she said.
The third most important issue is the border incident, which is of great concern.
“I urge Azerbaijan to withdraw its troops from the border with Armenia,” she added.
