Armenian prisoners of war should be released immediately, said François-Xavier Bellamy, French member of the European Parliament who recently visited Armenia, during a debate on the issue of prisoners of war in the context of the recent Nagorno-Karabakh war.
The MP first reminded that finally they have managed to put this urgent humanitarian issue on the agenda. He stressed from the tribune of the European Parliament that Azerbaijan refuses to say how many people are still being held, and there are hundreds of families in Armenia who do not know whether their son is dead, alive or captive.
Applause was heard in the hall after the deputy’s speech.
