“The position of the Islamic Republic of Iran is very clear and decisive. We do not accept any change in the region, the territorial integrity of the countries of the region must be preserved, while we do not accept any supra-regional power near our borders. If they want to take a part of the territory of Armenia, our borders will be changed, that is, if we have a new neighbor, it is not acceptable for us. The borders of the past must be fully protected, the common border of the Islamic Republic of Iran with Armenia must be preserved,” said Dr. Mojtaba Zolnuri, Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee.
According to him, the two countries have the right to maintain their territorial integrity. “We support Azerbaijan’s position on maintaining its territorial integrity, we also support Armenia’s position on maintaining its territorial integrity, land and border with Iran. We are neighbors with the two countries. Given the previous situation, without any change in the region, we support the territorial integrity of the two countries,” he told a Sputnik reporter in Tehran.
