On May 17, Acting Defense Minister of Armenia Vagharshak Harutyunyan ha a telephone conversation with Defense Minister of Russia, Gen. of the Army Sergey Shoigu.
Harutyunyan presented to his Russian counterpart the situation created by the provocation carried out by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces on May 12 and 13. The Armenian Defense Minister said that despite the agreement reached during the talks, several groups of Azerbaijani servicemen have returned to their starting positions, some of them are still in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, which means that the problem has not been solved yet. Harutyunyan considered the encroachments on the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia inadmissible, emphasizing that the further developments of the situation may lead to unpredictable consequences.
The Russian Defense Minister assured that the issue is in the center of attention of the military-political leadership of the Russian Federation, that official Moscow will make all the necessary efforts to resolve the situation peacefully.
