As part of the implementation of the trilateral statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia of November 9, 2020, Russian peacekeepers continue to assist in the restoration of peaceful life in Nagorno-Karabakh.
So, the servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent on the eve ensured the safety of a visit to the Christian monastery of Amaras by another group of 80 pilgrims. These people came here from Stepanakert city and the towns and villages adjacent to the monastery.
As a result of the signing of a ceasefire agreement, after the end of hostilities, the early medieval Amaras monastery was in the immediate vicinity of the demarcation line. Servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh on a regular basis ensure the safety of pilgrims wishing to visit this shrine.
“Even 100 years ago, an Armenian writer wrote in his memoirs” ... be glorified the moment when the foot of a Russian soldier stepped on the holy Armenian land ...” said pilgrim Samvel Vardanyan. “About a hundred years have passed and history repeats itself. I take the responsibility to repeat myself and say again - thank you guys for everything. I hope you will not leave us again. The world that you brought with you, it will remain forever," he added.
“We thank our Russian peacekeepers who came to us and accompany us. We thank them for being with us and for doing everything possible to preserve peace in our region. This day is a holiday and we are all here together to offer prayers to God,” said Father Andreas, priest of the Amaras Monastery.
