‘Freedom to Armenian prisoners of war’: there is a silent action with posters with this post at the central entrance of the Spanish Congress. A group of Spanish deputies and senators demand the release of Armenian prisoners of war from Azerbaijan. By a silent action, the Spanish parliamentarians are shouting against the destructive silence in Europe.
“We gathered in front of the Congress with deputies of different parliamentary groups, senators, we demand the Spanish government to immediately abandon its passive position, demand the release of Armenian prisoners of war (POWs) from Azerbaijan, fulfilling the November 9, 2020 ceasefire condition,” says Carles Mulet Garcia, Member of the Spanish Senate.
The protesters petitioned the government of their country, first recalling the war unleashed by Azerbaijan in 2020, then the fact that Azerbaijan, the perpetrator of war crimes, continues its policy of not returning all Armenian POWs, while Armenia adheres to its signature and fulfills its obligations.
“That is why we, the deputies who signed it, demand from the Spanish government to use its international authority and all the levers to achieve the freedom of the Armenian POWs.
The law in this region must prevail over violence, while it is impossible to ensure it in the conditions of Azerbaijani barbarism and totalitarianism,” the Spanish Congressmen says.
