The Armenian-Georgian partnership is one of the most important guarantees for ensuring stability in the region, Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a joint press conference with his Georgian counterpart Irakli Garibashvili in Yerevan, noting that regional security matters were addressed during their meeting.
“Our two peoples are intertwined with many threads. Our centuries-old friendship, as well as the common values of democracy and the rule of law, form the solid foundation on which the partnership of our two states is based.
The Armenian community of Georgia, which has a centuries-old history, is the bridge that connects our two countries even stronger. We have a wide agenda of dynamically developing cooperation; it covers many areas.
Mr. Garibashvili and I had the opportunity to continue the constructive dialogue established with the Government of Georgia, spoke the general state of cooperation, development prospects in the fields of transport, energy, other important sectors of the economy, and decided to place even greater emphasis on trade and economic ties.
We noted the need to develop the potential for more efficient use of regional transport routes, the potential for cooperation between the two countries in the field of high technology and the need for its use. Issues of cooperation in the field of education, science and culture were also discussed.
We exchanged views on the steps taken to fight the pandemic in our countries.
We also spoke about regional security issues. For us, there is no doubt that the Armenian-Georgian partnership is one of the strongest guarantees for stability in our region.
I expressed confidence that the Karabakh conflict should be finally settled within the framework of the process under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, based on the principles proposed by them. I expressed confidence that each conflict has its own peculiarities, in this respect I was able to maintain a balanced, constructive position on issues sensitive to each other,” said the Acting Prime Minister.
