Azerbaijan has opened a military airport on the border with Armenia in Nakhichevan. According to an expert on Azerbaijan, such re-equipment of military infrastructure shows that the country does not hide its aggressive rhetoric in both foreign policy and military directions. Taron Hovhannisyan considers that the only way to restrain Baku is to arm the army with state-of-the-art weapons and deepen military cooperation with the allies.
“Our actions must be adequate. We need to arm ourselves more and faster. Azerbaijan clearly shows that it will not stop arming and modernizing the army. If in the past the cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan was at the level of arms sales or training of troops, now Turkey has a direct presence in Azerbaijan. On the other hand, we may need to deepen military cooperation with our allies,” Taron Hovhannisyan, Expert on Azerbaijan says.
