Acting Foreign Minister of Armenia Ara Aivazian and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a joint press conference in Yerevan. The Russian Foreign Minister stated that a wide range of issues of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting with Armenia Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“We are time-tested allies and strategic partners. We stated at the negotiations that the political dialogue between us is actively developing, first of all, at high and supreme levels. Our leaders have already held two large-scale tête-à-tête meetings this year, eight telephone conversations, and heads of government met twice, as well as the intensive cooperation between the relevant ministries and departments are regulated,” Lavrov said.
The Russian Foreign Minister noted that the whole complex of trade and economic issues was discussed. According to Lavrov, Russia remains a leading partner and investor in Armenia, despite a 10% drop in trade turnover last year.
“We intend to restore the growth of our economic ties within the framework of the regular session of governmental commissions on economic cooperation, which is scheduled for this year,” Lavrov stated.
