Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis touched upon the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide during a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov in Baku.
In response to the question of one of the journalists, Landsbergis said: “Lessons of history are very difficult, especially for the outside, those who did not participate in it. We are learning to understand other countries’ positions, we are learning to see the history through their eyes, and we are trying to step in their shoes. But the process takes time.
Some processes are easier than others. We have heard that the President of the US accepting on behalf of his country certain historical truth. Lithuania has accepted it as well.”
Landsbergis expressed confidence that the facts should be presented and evaluated.
