Last year, the fight against corruption was among the priorities of the Prosecutor’s Office, stated the RA Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan, presenting the 2020 activity report of the Prosecutor’s Office at the session of the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs.
“Only in 2020, about 1356 people were prosecuted, and this number exceeds the results of 2019 by 7.3%. In 2020, with the measures we took, the damage caused to the state by corruption crimes - about AMD 227 billion (about $437 million) was revealed, which is about AMD 105 billion (about $202 million) more than the results of the previous year.
We also have a positive move in terms of damage restoration. In 2020, the damage of about AMD 14.2 billion (over$27 million 300 thousand) was restored, whereas in 2019, the damage of AMD 12.4 billion (about $23 million 850 thousand) was restored,” said Davtyan.
