Armenia joined the UN Food Systems Summit and started a two-stage discussion in Yerevan today on raising access to safe, nutritious food through sustainable agriculture.
International experts warn that due to the economic crisis, and now due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there are more poor people in the world in need of food.
What programs should our country implement? During the meeting, agrarian specialists raised various issues. One, for example, is to make the uncultivated lands usable, which will also contribute to a greater agricultural output in the country, hence to an increase in the level of food security.
“We have designed how we imagine these options to cultivate the uncultivated lands. Today we will share our thoughts to understand whether they are acceptable, what suggestions will be made by us, by our partners so that we can reformulate it and present it as an existing document,” says Arman Khojoyan, RA Deputy Minister of Economy.
