As we reported earlier, on April 27 the Speaker of the RA National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan received Baroness Caroline Cox, Member of the House of Lords of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Northern Ireland, who was in Armenia to attend the commemoration ceremonies of the Armenian Genocide victims.
The Baroness particularly said at the meeting with Mirzoyan.
“I have always said that I am a nurse, a Social Scientist by intention and a baroness by astonishment. I want to use my role in the House of Lords and to be a voice for people whose voices are not heard. Armenian voices are not sufficiently heard in the British Government too.
At first, I thank people of Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), for holding the frontline of faith and freedom fight and paying such a high sacrifice. You have been in the war and we have witnessed the suffering of the prisoners of war, which continues.
I come with anger for the British Government’s position. We are not doing more to call Azerbaijan to account for its crimes, and that there will not be impunity for holding the prisoners of war and other war crimes. So, I would like to see much more international pressure of Azerbaijan to be called to a court.
As always, I am full of great admiration for Armenia. Armenia is such a wonderful country with art, music, culture and democracy. My message is love for Armenia and Artsakh.”
