The members of the Armenian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Eastern Partnership - Euronest - presented their work at last week’s session.
“For us it was a priority to make emphases regarding the issue of returning our prisoners of war (POWs) under the November 9 trilateral statement. The Azerbaijani side, unfortunately, has not fulfilled its obligation to date. There is a broad consensus among the European partners over this issue. Not only had our delegates but also a group of European lawmakers delivered remarks, noting that Azerbaijan must unconditionally fulfill its obligations. We also delivered remarks about the Azerbaijani Armenophobic policy, and the Armenian cultural heritage,” said Viktor Yengibaryan, head of the Armenian delegation to Euronest, member of ‘My step’ faction.
Speaker of Parliament Ararat Mizroyan and his Ukrainian and Georgian counterparts delivered speeches during the opening of the plenary session. The Azerbaijani Speaker of Parliament, however, did not.
“This shows that the Azerbaijan side is unhappy over the Euronest work because all the anti-Armenian items which they had pushed for in different resolutions failed. Even in the Committee on Energy, the Azerbaijanis tried to harm the interests of Armenia with their vocabulary, however they, fortunately, did not succeed,” Yengibaryan stated.
