It is very nice to be here today, to talk to the real friends of Lithuania. A group of friends for Armenia is in Yerevan today. My and my team’s main massage of being here is that we are here to help, to support. We would also like to expect more comprehensive support mechanisms from EU. I think we will be able to find mechanisms to further expand that support, both politically, humanitarianly and economically. I believe it is possible to deepen that cooperation, to expand the provided assistance and opportunities. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis stated this during a joint press conference with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ara Aivazian.
According to the Lithuanian Foreign Minister, a clear message from Yerevan is needed.
“I think in that case there will be more friends in the official European capitals, in Brussels in particular, who will be ready to support you,” said Landsbergis.
He also highlighted the deepening of cooperation in the conditions of the coronavirus epidemic, providing vaccines to Armenia.
“The security is not completely provided until everyone is safe from Covid-19. Many practical measures and suggestions for deepening cooperation are expected. And I am sure that in that case wider support will be provided to Armenia,” Landsbergis stressed.
“I know that the situation in Armenia is much more complicated than in other Eastern Partnership countries or other associated countries from a purely geographical point of view, but this does not mean that Europe will not meet Armenia,” the Lithuanian official added.
