We have witnessed precedents for the destruction of Armenian places of worship, monuments, and official statements justifying them, said the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ara Aivazian, referring to the fate of the Armenian historical and cultural monuments in the territories under the control of Azerbaijan.
“This issue is within the framework of our constant attention and work. You have surely noticed that our international partners have harshly criticized any tendencies to destroy the Armenian historical and cultural heritage, to change the identity.
This issue is also included in the agenda of the peace process as evidenced by the Co-Chairs’ announcements of December 3, 2020 and April 13 of this year. We work with specialized institutions; we work very closely with UNESCO and other institutions.
I want to say that today it is very important to raise the awareness of the international community on this issue,” Aivazian said, assuring that the Foreign Ministry is working consistently in this regard. He also stressed that on April 24, on the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ‘Heritage in Danger: Artsakh’ exhibition, visited by high-ranking delegations arrived in Armenia was held.
