US Republican Congresswoman Michelle Steel addressed the issue of the Armenian Genocide in the House of Representatives and called on the US authorities to recognize it.
“Today marks the 106-th anniversary of the start of the Armenian genocide. I stand in solidarity with the Armenian community today and renew the call for the U.S. government to formally recognize the atrocities that happened to the Armenian people for what they were - a genocide. Armenians were deported from their Homeland and became victims of massacres in 1915-1916. More than one million Armenians died during that tragedy. Years later, people do not call these events genocide. It is our duty to recognize this tragedy,” US Congresswoman stated.
