Armenia is ready to normalize relations with Turkey without preconditions. The statement came from Deputy Foreign Minister Avet Adonts at a briefing in Tsitsernakaberd Memorial. He added that today Turkey continues to present preconditions for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, as well as the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and other regional issues. However, none of the preconditions is acceptable for the Armenian side.
Adonts reaffirmed that now there is no negotiation between Armenia and Turkey. "At the moment we have zero quality relations with Turkey."
Speaking about the settlement of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) issue, the Deputy Foreign Minister noted that there is no other format in this issue except the Minsk Group. He assured that work is being done with the Minsk Group co-chairs, expressing hope that they will soon become more visible.
As for the possibility of Joe Biden using the term ‘genocide’, Adonts said that if that happened, it would be an important step. “The United States will reaffirm its approach not to the settlement of our regional issues, but to how fundamental values, human freedoms, are used in the United States in general, serving as an example to civilized nations that have not yet stated their position on the Armenian Genocide,” the Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized.
