Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan touched upon the expenditure of funds raised in the ‘Hayastan’ All-Armenian Fund during the 44-day war.
“Due to the martial law, the Government allocated about AMD 120 billion (about $230 million), of which about AMD 52 billion (about $100 million) has been allocated from the ‘Hayastan’ All-Armenian Fund," the RA Prime Minister said. According to Pashinyan, the expenditure gap was presented at the March 15 meeting of the fund's board of trustees, as a result of which the board issued a statement expressing confidence that the money collected during the war was spent on purpose.
Pashinyan also stated that since the day the ‘Hayastan’ All-Armenian Fund was founded until September 2020, $247 million had been raised, and $212 million -during the 44-day war. “In fact, more than 70 percent of what was raised in 28 years was raised in 44 days,” he said.
Pashinyan also informed that an AMD 110 billion (about $211 million) infrastructure and housing program will be implemented in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) through the ‘Hayastan’ All-Armenian Fund within three years. “This will be a bigger program than all the programs implemented in Artsakh since the establishment of the ‘Hayastan’ All-Armenian Fund,” he stressed.
According to the Prime Minister, during the discussion of the state budget 2020 execution at the National Assembly, the military expenses will be discussed behind closed doors. “It should be presented in details what the AMD 120 billion (about $230 million) were spent on in order to close this topic irreversibly and definitively,” he said.
