Trent Zimmerman and Joel Fitzgibbon, members of the Australia-Armenia Federal Inter-parliamentary Union (Friendship Group) have joined a group of well-known figures and organizations urging Prime Minister Scott Morrison to recognize the Armenian Genocide.
Zimmermann, who chairs the Australian House of Representatives Standing Committee on Health, Elderly Care and Sports, and Australian former Defense Minister Fitzgibbon have written letter to the Prime Minister to formally recognize the 1915 massacre of Armenians, Assyrians and Greeks in the Ottoman Empire.
More than 40 members of the federal parliament who have signed a declaration recognizing the 1915 genocide, joined their call, made on the eve of the 106-th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
