At today’s session, the PACE Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons discussed the issue of Paul Gavan (Iceland), the author of the report on the humanitarian consequences of the 44-day war in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), visiting the region to carry out fact-finding activities. Tatevik Hayrapetyan, member of ‘My Step’ faction, scholar of Azerbaijani sciences, member of the Armenian delegation to PACE, wrote about this on her Facebook page, noting that in her speech she stressed about it.
“I welcome the rapporteur’s readiness to visit the region, especially Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), in order to clarify the reality on the spot. I am sure this visit will help to prepare a comprehensive, balanced report. I would also advise him to take a look at the famous ‘Trophy Park’ during his visit to Baku to see with his own eyes how fascism develops in the South Caucasus. It is important that the rapporteur pays attention to the post-war discourses, the hate speech, which is preached at the highest state level in Azerbaijan. It will help to see the full picture of this conflict.”
