Prevent cultural genocide: NGOs of Artsakh held a protest in front of the UN Office in Armenia. The people of Artsakh brought with them the paintings of the children of Hadrut, depicting the monuments and buildings, which are now destroyed or damaged the atrocities of Azerbaijan. The protesters handed a letter on behalf of the Artsakh Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, demanding the UN and UNESCO to prevent the cultural genocide in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). The office responded to the protesters by saying that UN Resident Coordinator Shombi Sharp ready to receive them tomorrow.
“Up to now our cultural heritage is being destroyed in Shushi and Hadrut, in the remaining Armenian territories that are occupied. The Armenian trace is being eliminated. We are here for our captives. We hear nothing but condolences from all international organizations,” says Karen Avagimyan, President of the ‘Forced Displaced Armenian Population of Shushi’ NGO.
“Today our protest is dedicated to the fact that today our Jabrayil church is being demolished by Azerbaijani enemies, the Green Church in Shushi has been demolished, I even saw that the khachkars (cross stones) are being removed. This is the way the Turkish yataghan (scimitar) works,” says Ira Tamrazyan, Director of Hadrut Children and Youth Center.
