“The security system of our country is based on the Armenian-Russian strategic and military-political alliance. For security reasons, we have a joint military group with Russia and a joint air defense system in the Caucasus region”, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said. He was on a working trip in Rind community of Vayots Dzor Province.
He stated that the logic of the agreements with Russia is the following: “an attack on Armenia means an attack on Russia.”
“Many people now ask why this system did not work the way our people wanted during the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) war. There is a simple reason for that: in fact, this security system extends to the borders of the Republic of Armenia, which were defined by the Republic of Armenia in the Law ‘On Administrative Territorial Division’ adopted in 2010.
They say, how is it that there are Azerbaijanis east of Shurnukh village, we say, for a simple reason. In 2010, the law ‘On Administrative Territorial Division’ was adopted, where it is written that Azerbaijan is east of Shurnukh. They say, how is it, the Azerbaijanis are not far from Sotk, we say, they wrote in the same law, the Armenian border ends with Sotk, and beyond that is Azerbaijan,” Pashinyan explained.
