Paris also joined the demand for the release of Armenian prisoners of war (POWs). At the invitation of the ‘Sharzhum’ (‘Movement’) association, the Armenians living in France called on the world from the famous Place de la République square in Paris to intervene in the issue of the release of Armenian POWs.
The protesters stressed that Azerbaijan does not return Armenian POWs and violates the rules of treatment of POWs set forth in the Geneva Convention.
The participants called on France, as the co-chair of the Minsk Group, to use all its authority to ensure the return of POWs and the implementation of humanitarian provisions.
“This protest is being held in dozens of cities, the aim of which is to make our voice heard and to draw attention to the issue of Armenian POWs. Azerbaijan continues its genocidal aspirations, as evidenced by the war unleashed by Azerbaijan,” says Loris Tufanian, activist of the ‘Movement’ association.
“We are here to condemn Aliyev’s fascism and to reveal it. Aliyev wants to commit genocide, we remind that the people of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) have the right to live independently, that the aggression against them should stop, we know very well about the war crimes committed by them,” says Dro Momajyan, member of the ‘Movement’ association.
