Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took part in the board session on the occasion of the Police Day. Before the session started the Prime Minister laid flowers at the memorial in the yard of the Police building, paying tribute to the memory of all the police officers who sacrificed their lives for the Homeland.
The Prime Minister made a speech at the board session in which he particularly stated:
“Honorable Chief of Police of the Republic of Armenia, distinguished members of the Police Board, heads of departments, deputies, dear Officers of the Police, after our words of remembrance, let me once again congratulate all of us on Police Day and thank you for your service.
I want to emphasize that the Police of the Republic of Armenia has been working for more than a year, to put it mildly, overloaded.
First, the coronavirus pandemic, which began to spread in the Republic of Armenia more than a year ago, posed new problems for the state and the Police. Main operating institution, which was engaged in ensuring the observance of anti-epidemic rules, was the Police of the Republic of Armenia.
Then came the 44-day war, in which the police officers took a very direct and active part, being distinguished by their heroism. Unfortunately, many servicemen died for the Homeland. Dozens of police officers were seriously injured and disabled.
After the 44-day war, the domestic political situation flared up. I would like to note with satisfaction that, perhaps, we now have an unprecedented phenomenon in the world history, that despite calls for killing, shooting, execution, breaking in the Republic of Armenia for months, in fact we have resolved the domestic political situation without violence.
Snap parliamentary elections are ahead of us. I hope and I am sure that the law enforcement bodies of the Republic of Armenia, the Police will be able to ensure the rule of law, the right of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia to vote freely,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.
