All our program obligations have been fulfilled parallel to the crisis management, Armenia’s Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan stated at the discussion of the RA Government report 2020.
According to the Minister, within the recent 2-3 years the health budget of Armenia increased by 30%. “This means that the beneficiary groups increased, and new services introduced,” Avanesyan said, reminding that the state pays for the medical care for children under 18. “The treatment of a number of diseases, surgeries that were unaffordable for our citizens, are available today. Our first and second-degree disabled people need surgery, which costs AMD 3-4 million (over $5,500-7,400). Several years ago they could dream about it and could not afford, today they (surgeries) are available to our citizens,” Avanesyan stressed.
The Minister also informed that large investments have been made for developing the provincial capacities. The medical institutions have been equipped with new devices. “Investments in strengthening medical centers will continue,” she assured.
