The annual report on the 2020 program implementation results of the Government of Armenia was discussed at the National Assembly. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that in 2020 crisis management was implemented.
Before that, he stated that 2019 was an unprecedented successful year for Armenia; and it had high economic results for the last ten years - 7.6% economic growth, the pre-planned of the draft budget revenue part was exceeded by about AMD 63 billion (about $117 million 320 thousand).
“In January-February 2020, this dynamic of economic growth continued, more than 9% economic activity was registered in Armenia, but the coronavirus entered Armenia in March, a crisis period began in our country, it seemed that the coronavirus would be the worst memory of 2020 for us. However, in September we had a 44-day war with heavy consequences for us. Due to the above-mentioned circumstances, the Government of the Republic of Armenia carried out crisis management in 2020. In the first stage, this crisis management was connected with the coronavirus, as a result of which today more than 200,000 citizens of Armenia have been infected with the coronavirus,” said the Prime Minister, noting that the country had more than 3,770 deaths from the coronavirus, at the same time carried out 25 anti-crisis measures. About 1.1 million natural persons and 83 thousand legal entities received assistance within the framework of the program.
The Prime Minister said that AMD 239 billion (over $445 million) were available to the beneficiaries within the framework of the coronavirus anti-crisis package. AMD 55 billion (over $102 million 420 thousand) were spent from the state budget, AMD 20 billion (about $37 million 244 thousand) borrowed from the state budget, the rest was implemented through the banking system.
