Tatevik Hayrapetyan, member of ‘My Step’ faction, said during the announcements at the National Assembly that a heated discussion on the issue of Armenian prisoners of war (POWs) was held at the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons. Deputies Tatevik Hayrapetyan and Naira Zohrabyan took part in the session.
“The Azerbaijani side made every effort to thwart the discussion, however, thanks to our joint efforts today the chairman of the committee issued a statement stating that Azerbaijan is obliged to fulfill its obligation under the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, particularly, point 8, and to immediately return the Armenian POWs, as well as to cooperate with the European Court of Human Rights,” the MP said.
She noted that parliamentary diplomacy is one of the possible platforms of that work, and they can succeed only if they come forward with a united front. She stressed that the small achievements are the result of that joint work.
Today Pierre-Alan Friedez, Head of the PACE Committee on Migration, Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, expressed concern over the fate of Armenian captives and missing persons after the recent Artsakh war.
