Kenson Silver, Mayor of Southfield, County of Oakland, Michigan, has signed a declaration declaring April 24, 2021, Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, urging all city residents to honor the memory of 1.5 million Armenians, according to the Armenian National Committee.
“Armenian Genocide Memorial Day is a public holiday in Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh and is observed by the Armenian Diaspora on April 24. In Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, hundreds of thousands of people walk to the Tsitsernakaberd Genocide Memorial to lay flowers at the eternal flame,” the declaration reads.
