The Amnesty International in the ‘Azerbaijan: Human Rights in the Modern World’ report referred to the war crimes committed by Azerbaijan during the Second Artsakh War, as well as the policy of restricting human rights and freedoms in the country.
The report states that Azerbaijani forces committed war crimes in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh). “Many videos show mistreatment of prisoners of war, beheadings and desecration of the bodies of enemy soldiers.”
Touching upon the freedom of speech in the country, the organization noted that parallel to the street rallies and the increase in numbers of people willing to protest, the government continues to increase its repression.
Besides, the report provided details on restrictions on freedom of assembly, police torture and ill-treatment.
