Ten cases of infection with a new UK variant of coronavirus recorded in Armenia, according to the Ministry of Health.
The ministry said it had submitted 12 samples of the novel coronavirus on March 18 for complete genome sequencing which the experts from the Institute of Molecular Biology Human Genomics and Immunomics Laboratory, the Bioinformatics scientific team and scientists from the Armenian-Russian University’s Department of Bioengineering, Bioinformatics and Molecular Biology carried out.
On March 18, the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the RA Ministry of Health provided the samples.
Unlike the January research, the British variant of the coronavirus (B.1.1.7, VOC-202012/01) detected in ten of the 12 samples received in March.
Considering that the possibility of infection with different variants is not ruled out, the Ministry of Health once again calls to strictly follow the anti-epidemic rules: wear a mask, keep a distance of at least 1.5 meters, wash or disinfect hands often, get vaccinated against COVID-19.
