Azerbaijan politicizes the issue of humanitarian access to Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), two days ago the Armenian Foreign Minister stated, urging international partners to respond clearly. Particularly, Ara Aivazian stated five months after the ceasefire the UN is not carrying out a humanitarian mission in Artsakh. ‘Lurer’, asked the UN Office in Armenia what programs are planned for the Armenians of Artsakh after the war, what steps are being taken to carry out humanitarian actions in the territory of Artsakh.
“Under international humanitarian law, the UN can only enter territories authorized by recognized governments. The work of securing the access is being carried out intensively. After the outbreak of battles, the UN Office in Armenia launched a humanitarian assistance program to assist tens of thousands of people displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia within the framework of the Office’s national mandate,” said UN Secretary-General’s Spokesman Stéphane Dujarric.
